 Day After Tomorrow, The (2004)
IMDB rating: 6.20
Plot: This movie takes a big-budget, special-effects-filled look at what the world would look like if the greenhouse effect and global warming continued at such levels that they resulted in worldwide catastrophe and disaster, including multiple hurricanes, tornadoes, tidal waves, floods and the beginning of the next Ice Age. At the center of the story is a paleoclimatologist (a scientist who studies the ways weather patterns changed in the past), Professor Jack Hall (Quaid), who tries to save the world from the effects of global warming while also trying to get to his son, Sam (Gyllenhaal), who was in New York City as part of a scholastic competition, when the city was overwhelmed by the chilling beginnings of the new Ice Age. In addition to all of the other challenges Dr. Hall faces, he’s also going against the flow as humanity races south to warmer climes, and he’s nearly the only one going north…

Job interview – how long does it usually take to hear back?
Two Fridays ago (the 13th, great) I had an interview with a public radio station – pretty much my dream job. I used to work there, so I know how the station works, and I know I’m qualified for the job. But, I was the first interviewee, and they told me they were interviewing more people all of last week. They said they’d get back to me around Thanksgiving – wasn’t sure if they meant before or after – and I guess that’s technically tomorrow.
But – I sent a thank you note promptly on the 13th, no response. A few days later, my boss at my current job sent a glowing letter of recommendation, but no response. And yesterday, I just sent a follow-up "ideas" letter, touching on some things I didn’t get to at the interview. And no response.
I talked to several people before I sent yesterday’s follow-up, and they all told me it’s not overkill, so I sent it. I hope it wasn’t.
But why no response? The interview went really well! Or so I thought. And I knew one of the interviewers from beforehand.
Sorry this is so long. I’m just flipping out. I really want this job.
I hope you get the job! My son was laid off and he applied to a company and took the employment test and all and he still hasn’t heard a word and that was a month ago. Hang in there I hope it works out for you.

Sounds to me like you’ve done everything correctly and that the station knows you want the job. Now enjoy the upcoming holiday and give thanks that you’re currently employed which is more than a whole lot of people can say. If you haven’t heard anything by December 1st, accept that you’ll have to keep looking for that dream job somewhere else, at least until another position opens up at the station. They have your application on file and if something else does develop, you’ll be that much ahead of the game. But don’t beat yourself up if you don’t get in this time. They might realize that your skills or level of development don’t fit as well as you think they do, in which case that dream job could have turned into a nightmare. Sometimes patience is a virtue — at times like this, it’s a necessity. So try to relax and if it turns out that you do get the position — congratulations, big time.

I know exactly where you are coming from. I waited on pins and needles for weeks before hearing back that I’d gotten the job that I currently have. And they were totally unresponsive with my emails (after I got the job, they kind of apologized for that…..but they’re just really busy and disorganized in general).
The economy is in deep trouble. There are vast numbers of overqualified people who are out of a job right now. (Lucky for you, you have a current job!)
I can’t make promises because in this economy there’s just no way to tell. (I applied for TONS of jobs that I thought I was a shoe-in for…..only got the one job offer. It happened to be my top choice, but it’s scary to think that I could still be unemployed right now without that one offer.) But I think you’re in a good place for this job….
1. You’ve worked there before.
2. You got a glowing letter of recommendation from your CURRENT boss (always a good sign).
3. It was a good idea to send the thank-you note. Kudos!
4. Your follow-up letter with additional ideas shows initiative and enthusiasm. It was a good move!
Don’t flip out. Stay calm. At this point, the best thing to do is wait. Good luck!!!
By the way, it’s still 2 days until Thanksgiving and most people consider "around Thanksgiving" to be "after Thanksgiving." With all the applicants they probably have, it might still be another couple weeks. Just sit tight and wait.

Just wait until after Thanksgiving and then maybe try to contact them again if you havent heard anything.
Its really hard to say whats going on, but many people take extra vacation and days off near holidays such as Thanksgiving. The people doing the interviews might have taken off, this might be why they havent gotten back with you.
Then again, maybe thats just wishful thinking….
Good luck regardless.
