What is the best "Endgame Chess Book" on the market, title, author, cost etc?

Reuben Fine’s BCE ("Basic Chess Endings") is of course the most comprehensive "Bible" of chess endings, but it can be pretty dry reading:

For an advanced player who still wants a book that’s digestible, I recommend Max Euwe and David Hooper’s "A Guide To Chess Endings" (this link has a limited preview):

For less advanced players, perhaps Yasser Seirawan’s "Winning Chess Endings":

Mark Dvortesky’s Endgame Manual ($28) is the best Chess Endgame Book I have ever seen it has a beautiful layout over 400 pages a serious Player with a rating of at least 1900-2000 who wants to become a National or International Chess Master someday could spend 6 years studying his material and vastly improve their knowledge.

Studying the material in books is only the first step you have to apply what you’ve learned from books in actual games gain experience playing against Players that matter (not patzers) this take a great deal of time/effort patience.

Sorry to be jerk and give you a "non-answer" that makes too much sense that later you end up agreeing with it.

Any chess book is only good if you read it.

What one guy finds entertaining can be torture for the next person. Go to Amazon and read the samples of a few and decide based on which one you can see yourself reading.

The best Endgame book I ever read is "Raul Capablanca’s Best Chess Endings" by Irving Chernev. Look for the new Algebraic edition (where a night move is shown as Nc6 for instance). The book is good but if you do not work hard on each game then no book will ever help, anyway. AFter I read this book I played some neat games, I beat some players who were rated 300 to 500 points higher than me. I did study all 60 games or so. Invest your time in this book, you will not regret.
